Description

Up for sale is a rare original railroad crossing sign with purple glass "marble" reflectors.  This sign is made of large and heavy iron.  It is original and antique, not a replica.  The iron is rusted all around but still solid and heavy for most of the sign with the exception of the backing in one section.  This old railway sign is not connected as one large piece -- it is split into 3 sections that were once connected.  The "rail" and "road" parts are not connected, I just placed them in their original locations for the cover photo.  This antique sign is a tough find with the original purple glass cat eyes.  I have not seen a lot of the train crossing marbles in purple glass.  There are a few of the marbles missing from a few letters but majority are still attached.  Please see photos for reference.
This train sign measures 6 feet (72 inches) long at the longest point (the section that says "Crossing").  The sections that say "rail" and "road" measure 33 inches at their longest points.  The width of the sign portions are 9 inches.  The iron bracketing measures 36 inches by 9 inches.  The bracketing is solidly attached and can't be removed.  It has 2 large bolts sticking out the back. The bolts that are sticking out the back measure almost 9 inches in length.
This sign is quite large and would be too expensive to ship.  The vintage railroad sign is available for free pickup in SAN ANTONIO TEXAS.  I can also have it delivered to certain areas in the southern U.S. and potentially the midwest (Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico areas).  If interested then contact me with your location and I'll let you know if I can have it delivered to you.
I have other vintage brass railway locks and obsolete steel railroad padlocks made by Corbin Cabinet, Adlake, Slaymaker, Slaight of New Jersey, Sherburne, MM Buck, Miller Company, Fraim, OM Edwards, Loeffelholz of Milwaukee, Union Brass Manufacturing of Chicago Illinois, Y&T, Yale, Wilson Bohannan, Adams & Westlake, Ritchie & Son, Keen Kutter, Handlan, Best Company, and Post Co of Cincinnati Ohio.   The padlocks are a mixed assortment of switch locks, antique signal locks, general purpose, and logo padlocks.  I also have other listings for railway lanterns and pancake locks.
